Onions with red and white wine recipe

Let your onions smile again!

Have you ever eaten some cooked onions dressed only with oil and salt? Honestly, the are pretty... sad. So let's try to give a smile to those small veggies with an interesting recipe in which you can also use the leftovers of red and white wine, no longer drinkable after two days of opening.

Ingredients for the Onions with red and white wine, for four people

  • 500 grams of raw baby onions;
  • a quantity of capers as you like (I put 5 capers for person);
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • about 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil;
  • 1 glass of white wine (still wine);
  • 1 glass of red wine (still wine);
  • 1 shot of vinegar;
  • salt;
  • pepper.

Preparation of the Onions with red and white wine

Put in a pan the extra virgin olive oil and the garlic, without the peel. Turn on the fire and let it brown just a little bit.

Wash and add into the pan the raw onions with the white wine, adding salt and pepper. If you think that your onions are too big, simply split them in half with a knife.

Put the lid on the pan and let it cook on moderate fire for about 20 minutes. Mix occasionally.

Then add the vinegar, the red wine and the capers; continue cooking for about 20 minutes. At this point the onions are ready. So soft and smiling! :)
